Merry Christmas, Happy New Year from Gary Job Corps
This year, Gary Job Corps celebrated the holiday season by sharing with the staff music, door prizes, toys for the kids, food and fellowship. Over the 2023 year, the staff and students have assisted with many local events such as Sights and Sounds of Christmas, Texas State University Football, Circuit of the Americas, Q2 Soccer, Jamaica’s in Martindale, Uhland and San Marcos, LBJ Bash and volunteering for the Hays/Caldwell County Women’s Shelter, Southside Community Center, San Marcos Academy, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the Kyle Chamber, to name some of the many activities. Pictured are Santa Clause (Reggie Gilliams), Center Director Angelia Rackley Meadows, Deputy Direc-tor Chris Roff, HR Director Elva Zdeb, Community Relations Coordinator Randolph Goodman and various members of the staff. LifeLong Learning, SMPL present community lecture series
LifeLong Learning-San Marcos partners with the San Marcos Public Library to offer a community lecture series featuring six unique topics on six consecutive Fridays through Feb. 9. Each lecture is free and open to the public from 10 to 11:30 a.m.

Seven Zaffirini bills become law on Jan. 1
The last seven of the 122 bills Senator Judith Zaffirini passed in 2023 will become effective on Jan. 1. Consistent with her stated legislative agenda during the Regular Legislative Session that adjourned in May, the bills prioritize transparency, public welfare and procedural efficiency.

The stakeholders in the city of San Marcos are working together to ensure that the community thrives. Texas State University adjusts its curriculum to suit the needs of local businesses, and city staff work to make sure that graduates want to stay here and keep their knowledge and skills local.

BOBCATS PICKOFF BOWL WIN
In a game featuring five interceptions by the Bobcat defense, a Texas State offensive lineman scoring a touchdown, Gerald R. Ford Stadium running out of beer and the Bobcats setting a new attendance record, it was fitting that the first ever bowl game for Texas State was an unforgettable one.
