John Devine

John Devine is a 2018 Republican candidate seeking re-election to the position of Justice, Supreme Court, Place 4. He was born in Indiana and was owner and a practice attorney for his own Private litigation practice in 2002. Devine is part of many organizations including: (1) Member of the American Judges Association, (2) Member of the Board of Civil District Judge Mass Torts Committee, (3) Board member of the Civil District Judges, (4) Member of the District of Columbia Bar Association, (5) Member of the Harris County Juvenile Justice Charter School Board, (6) Board Member of the Juvenile Justice Charter School of Harris County,(7) Member of the Juvenile Board of Harris County, and lastly ((8) Board Member of the Mass Torts Committee of Texas.  Devine’s Professional Experiences includes his current position as Justice of the Texas State Supreme Court from 2012 to present as well as Judge of the District Court in Harris County(District 190), Judge/Justice of the Peace Courts in Harris County, Judge/Justice Court of Harris County (2002-2011), Brown & Root Incorporate and Analyst for Shell Oil Corporation in Houston.  He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in 1980 and his J.D. from South Texas College of Law in 1986.
