Lon A. Shell is a 2018 Republican candidate seeking election to the position of County Commissioner Pct. 3. Shell currently resides in San Marcos, and was a graduate of San Marcos High School before earning his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He  worked in Houston and Dallas as an engineer after earning his degree, but later moved back to San Marcos to run his business and be near family. Shell later served as Chief of Staff under Hays County Judge Bert Cobb, working for him for 7 years. On Oct. 17, 2017 he was appointed by Judge Cobb to serve on the Hays County Commissioners Court for Precinct 3, a seat vacated by Will Conley, who is now running for County Judge. Shell is president of the San Marcos Hays County EMS board and is on the steering committee for the Greater San Marcos Partnership’s Vision 2020.
