Melissa Derrick was born in West Virginia, but San Marcos has been her home for over 32 years. Derrick and her husband are local business owners and her children currently attend Texas State University. She has worked at Texas State for 20 plus years and has served as a Neighborhood Commissioner for Sector 2, Charter Review Co-Chair and treasurer for the Board of Advisors at the Katherine Anne Porter School in Wimberley. She has also served on the Boards for the Greater San Marcos Partnership and the Convention and Visitors Bureau. Melissa Derrick was elected to the San Marcos City Council in 2015 for a three-year term in Place 6.
