Art Squared on the courthouse lawn
The Art Squared Arts Market will be the hottest place in town this Saturday. Sponsored by the San Marcos Art League, the market features local and regional artists exhibiting and selling their handmade works. The event takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on the Hays County Courthouse lawn. Admission is always free.
Along with seeing dozens of artists and their works, including this month’s featured artist Kathryn Welch, people can take a free yoga class in the morning and enjoy live music by JusTif from 1 to 3 p.m.
Art Squared takes place on the second Saturday of every month between March and December. It is sponsored by the San Marcos Art League and funded through memberships, donations and the San Marcos Arts Commission.
Kathryn Welch, owner of River City Glassworks in San Marcos, has been designing and creating stained glass artwork for over a decade. Specializing in custom residential and commercial installations, she also repairs and restores stained glass and teaches classes on all levels. When she is not creating custom work for clients, Welch creates one-of-a-kind windows and mosaic sculptures for art markets.
