‘Passages’ Art Show Providing Inspiration for New Year at Price Center

Sunday, December 20, 2020

A new art show titled “Passages: Moving Forward in 2021,” consisting of 51 works of original art by more than two dozen local artists is now on display in the newly remodeled community gallery spaces at the Price Center. The show will hang through mid-January and many of the works are available to purchase.

“We’re inspired by, and grateful to, the area artists who took the time to participate in the new show,” said Joan Nagel, Price Center Arts Committee chair. “This is our first community show since closing for COVID, and we didn’t know what to expect,” she added.

“Passages” presents a diverse mix of traditional and non-traditional media and subject matter from several familiar and new to the Center artists. A unique community crazy quilt titled “Make a Joyful Noise” provides further inspiration and visual stimulation via 49 individually created squares using a consistent color palette from a variety of handmade papers. Community art shows are made possible in part through grant funds from the San Marcos Arts Commission. Admission is free and open to all daily. Proceeds from show application fees and commissions from any sales benefit the Price Center, which is operated by the Greater San Marcos Area Seniors Association (GSMASA), a 501(c)3 non-profit.
