Broadway in Austin announces 2023-2024 season

Sunday, April 9, 2023

Texas Performing Arts’ Broadway in Austin announces its 2023-24 season lineup with six Austin premieres and the return of two favorites. The 2023-24 season will include the new original musical “Six,” the Lerner & Loewe’s production of “My Fair Lady,” “Tina – The Tiny Turner Musical,” the Broadway hit based on Tim Burton’s classic film, “Beetlejuice,” a new musical featuring the songs of Bob Dylan called “Girl From the North Country” and the Disney musical, “Frozen.” Additionally, season ticket holders can add one or two more shows to the year: “Wicked” and “The Book of Mormon.”

The Broadway in Austin 2023-24 season features eight productions from October 2023 through June 2024. The season kicks off with “Six” Oct. 3 - 8. In “Six,” the wives of Henry VIII take to the microphone to remix five hundred years of historical heartbreak into a celebration of 21st century girl power.

From Dec. 5 - 10, “My Fair Lady” takes to the Bass Concert Hall stage. Called the “most perfect musical of all time” by Entertainment Weekly, “My Fair Lady” chronicles the education and elevation of Eliza Doolittle by linguistics professor Henry Higgins.

“Tina – The Tina Turner Musical” rocks in the new year from Jan. 9 - 12, 2024. This jukebox musical centers on the journey of the legend who broke barriers to become the Queen of Rock n’ Roll.

Following in February, the ghostwith- the-most comes to Austin with “Beetlejuice.” This musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a teenager whose life changes upon meeting a recently-deceased couple and a demon with a penchant for stripes. “Beetlejuice” comes to Bass Concert Hall Feb. 6 - 11, 2024.

From April 23 - 28, the new musical “Girl From the North Country” comes to Austin with a story about a group of wayward travelers whose lives intersect in a Minnesota guesthouse. Featuring the songs of Bob Dylan, this Tony-Award winning show was called ‘profoundly beautiful’ by “The New York Times.”

Next in the lineup is a welcome treat for a hot summer. Disney’s “Frozen” comes to Bass Concert Hall June 5 - 16. Based on the animated film, “Frozen” features an expanded score with a dozen new numbers for an unforgettable musical experience.

For season ticket holders, the Broadway in Austin season package can also include “Wicked,” a retelling of what happens in Oz before Dorothy comes along, on March 13 - 31, and from Nov. 14 - 19, “The Book of Mormon,” the story of a pair of mismatched missionaries sent halfway across the world to spread the Good Word.
