Season 27 to open in Wimberley July 6

The Cactus Pear Musical Festival announces its 27th live on-stage festival titled “Same Carriage: Fresh Horses: A Season of Continuity and Dynamic Change” on July 6-9 and July 13-15 in Wimberley, San Antonio and Boerne.

CPMF will kick off the summer season in Wimberley on Thursday, July 6 at 7 p.m. at the Chapel in the Hills with a free concert sponsored by Ellen and David Berman. Opening on “The More Things Change…” with works by de Falla, Beethoven, Dvořák and more. The festival will continue on Friday, July 7 at 7 p.m. with “The More Things Change…” at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio and then with “It’s An Old Story Made New: Exploring the interconnected lives of Robert Schumann, Clara Wieck Schumann and Johannes Brahms” 3 p.m. at First United Methodist Church in Boerne.

Week two of the festival continues with the free Young Artist Program Concert at 7 p.m. July 13 at Trinity Baptist Church in San Antonio. On Friday, July 14 at 7 p.m., also at Trinity Baptist Church, the festival will feature “Breaking the Mold” with works by Schnittke, Mozart, Shostakovish and more.

CPMF will conclude on Saturday, July 15 at 7 p.m. with “New Wine in Old Bottles” at Trinity Baptist Church, featuring works by Clara Schumann, Menotti, Brahms and John Wineglass.

Though the Chapel in the Hill concert in Wimberley is free, due to limited seating, festival organizers ask that attendees register via cpmf.us/ cpmf-season-27.
