Discovery Center holds first Monarch Festival

Sunday, October 7, 2018

Come to the San Marcos Discovery Center, 430 Riverside Drive, on Oct. 13 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. for a great selection of native plants, milkweed, herbs and vegetables for your garden during the center’s first Monarch Festival and Fall Plant Sale.

Explore the grounds and enjoy educational booths, music, food, activities and giveaways at the Monarch Festival, celebrating the monarch butterfly. Admission is free for all ages.

Native plants use less water and can handle our hot Texas summers better than non-native species. Discovery Center staff and volunteers will be available to help you pick the perfect plant to bring butterflies and hummingbirds to your garden.

Learn about the importance of pollinators like the monarch butterfly, and how you can help support monarch conservation. Choose from a variety of milkweed and pollinator species to create your own monarch-friendly garden.

All proceeds from the sale benefits the Discovery Center’s Native Plant Program.
