A new season for The Wimberley Players

Following a year of outdoor, socially-distanced and live streamed performances, The Wimberley Players have announced another season of shows for 2022.

The lineup includes comedy, mystery, drama, a musical and a classic. Season subscriptions are on sale now and single tickets for individual shows go on sale Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Clue: On Stage, Feb. 18 – March 13 (Play)

“Clue: On Stage,” based on the screenplay by Jonathan Lynn, the Paramount Pictures Motion Picture and the Hasbro board game, opens Friday, Feb. 18 with original music by Michael Holland. Directed by Bridget Farias-Gates,​ “Clue” is a hilarious farcemeets-murder mystery. The comedy whodunit will leave both cult-fans and newcomers in stitches as they try to figure out… who did it, where and with what?

The Cover of Life: April 29 – May 22 (Play)

“The Cover of Life,” written by R. T. Robinson and directed by Tracy Arnold, opens Friday, April 29. The play tells the story of three brides in rural Louisiana in 1943, each married to a Cliffert brother and now living with their in-laws while the men are off at war. Filled with charm and fun, “The Cover of Life” is a deeply affecting story about the struggle for self-worth.

I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change: July 15 – Aug. 7 (Musical)

“I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change,” with book and lyrics by Joe DiPietro and music by Jimmy Roberts, opens Friday, July 15. Directed by Milton Zoth, this celebration of the mating game takes on the truths and myths behind that contemporary conundrum known as ‘the relationship.’ This updated 2018 version is a hilarious tribute to all those who have loved and lost or dared to ask “Say, what are you doing Saturday night?”

Romeo & Juliet: Sept. 16 – Oct. 9 (Play)

“Romeo & Juliet,” by William Shakespeare, opens Friday, Sept. 16. Directed by Trish Rigdon, the managing artistic director of The Wimberley Players, this classic tale of love against the odds is about two teens from feuding families who unexpectedly find each other. This version is set amidst the turbulent unrest, civil rights movement and political divisiveness of the 1960s.

Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some): Nov. 18 – Dec. 11 (Play)

“Every Christmas Story Ever Told (And Then Some)” — by Michael Carleton, James FitzGerald and John K. Alvarez — opens Friday, Nov. 18. ​ Instead of performing Charles Dickens' traditional holiday classic, three actors decide to perform every Christmas story ever told with traditions from around the world, seasonal icons throughout history and a range of carols.

Season subscriptions include all four performances for $110 per person. Individual tickets for plays are $22 for adults, $18 for students or $22 for the livestream. Individual tickets for musicals are $30 for adults, $20 for students or $30 for the livestream.
