R.I.P. ‘Shortstop’ Cuevas

Wednesday, July 25, 2018

Richard and Helen Cuevas regret to announce the death of their beloved dog, Shortstop, who passed away on June 24, 2018 at the age of 15.

When Shortstop came home with us, he was small enough to fit in the palm of our hands. He became a member of our family in no time and quickly became attached to my dad, Richard. Shortstop would patiently wait for Richard to get home from work and wiggle with excitement. He’d bark, to let his parents know when he was ready to go to bed and wait for his belly rubs. Over the years, we watched Shortstop grow old and grey. When he could no longer walk for long periods of time, Richard attached a basket to the front of his bike so Shortstop could go for a “ride.” You could see those ears flapping a mile away.

Shortstop sits in his basket, ready for a bike ride.

Shortstop liked the Dallas Cowboys, treats, barking at cats, and hanging out with his dad on the back porch. Shortstop will be dearly missed. We love you, R.I.P. Shortstop Cuevas. The smallest dog with the biggest heart.
