SMUUF Donates to River Foundation
Once a month the San Marcos Unitarian Universalist Fellowship (SMUUF) takes up a collection during their Sunday Worship Service to donate to a local nonprofit whose mission align with their religious values.
"This month our Donate-the-Plate collection is going to one of our favorite longtime nonprofit partners, the San Marcos River Foundation (SMRF),” SMUUF Social Justice Chair Jeannie Lewis said. “Our church has a commitment to environmental protection, and we love our river."
"SMRF's main focus for the past few years is land conservation, trying to keep our river flowing and clear for future generations by buying and conserving land on the recharge zone close to the springs," SMRF Program Director Dianne Wassenich said.
She pointed out that this donation came at a particularly good time because donations in the summer are traditionally less.
