VFW helps veterans
Maurice T. Suttles VFW Post 3413 Auxiliary member Laura Davis worked with Post Commander Stephanie Brown, Post Members, Veterans Service Officers Jude Prather and Michael Hernandez, and the Hays County Food Bank to provide a mobile food distribution for veterans and their families. Twenty registered participants were planned for. The food was picked up at the food bank and donated by members of the VFW and placed into proper packaging. The city of San Marcos and many local organizations donated three pallets of water and several cases of flavored water that the San Marcos Fire Department delivered to the post for distribution.
On Saturday morning, Feb. 27, Abril and Adelina Flores were in the kitchen bagging frozen food to put in the boxes, and then they volunteered (with gloves and mask) to place the groceries in the trunks of the cars.
