A Word About Recycling

Sunday, December 13, 2020

(Starting this with a personal note.) When I reported earlier that I would be heading up to MN for the Holidays, I didn’t go then as I intended… but now I am. Thus, you won’t see these articles for a few weeks.

But before I go, came across an interesting and informative website called Learn.ReCollect.net, which if you have time, you might want to check out.

Although free, it advertises itself as a site to “Empower Residents To Recycle Right.” It claims it can provide “… your residents with the waste and recycling industry’s most trusted digital communication tools.” (While it is good, I don’t necessarily think it has all the ‘most trusted tools.”)

Under it’s contamination reduction area, it mentions, “When people incorrectly assume they know which bin an item is supposed to go in, they wishcycle…” Very true; the more people are into recycling, the more they think everything should be recyclable (and 'wish' they were)… but in many cases certain things can’t be and thus are contaminates.

This can be a problem, especially during the coming holiday season. Yes, the cans, the plastic jugs and bottles, and a lot of the glass things can be ... but certain wrapping paper and clear plastic molded protection covers shouldn’t be.

With that, will close until I’m back again next year (Good Lord willing). Praying you and all your loved ones will have very Happy, Holy, and Healthy Holidays.
