Fred ‘Flinn’ Simmons, III

Fred “Flinn” Simmons, III – son, brother, uncle and friend died Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in San Marcos, Texas.  Flinn’s  death was the result of a life long battle with mental illness and addiction. He will best be remembered for his love of the ocean and the mountains. They were his playground and play he did. He was an accomplished fisherman, epic snowboarder and storied surfer. He chased the sun, the waves, the tides and life’s adventures with flair, making friends along the way wherever he went. His talents, humor and antics will never be forgotten.  

 He was born in Houston, Texas on June 13, 1967.  He is survived by his loving parents Fred and Sharyn Simmons, his sisters Leslie Simmons and Stacy Simmons Clayton and their husbands, Billy Pettit and Robert Clayton, his nieces Paige Clayton and Ava Foster, his nephews Paris Foster, Will and Price Clayton. He also had many cousins including Tiffany Adams and her daughters Mattie and Morgan who he was especially close to.  

 A memorial will be held on Saturday June 23, 2018 at First Baptist Church in San Marcos, Texas at 2 p.m.  and all are welcome.  

 In lieu of flowers, a charitable memorial fund has been created in his honor and will be dedicated to organizations providing mental health services and outdoor adventure to those less fortunate.  Mail to: The Daily Flavor 807 Highland Terrace, San Marcos, Texas, 78666.
