2018’s Shining Stars Under 40
“As I look around the room today — I see the future of our city. We are blessed to live in a growing community full of young leaders such as yourselves.”
That’s how San Marcos Mayor John Thomaides welcomed the 2018 Shining Stars Under 40 in a reception Wednesday at the Rec Hall in City Park.

This is the 8th year Shining Stars Under 40 have been recognized by the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce and San Marcos Young Professionals. Shining Stars are young professionals in a variety of fields including business, technology, nonprofit management, civic life, public service, education and the arts who are making significant contributions to their professional fields as well as through service to their community.

To be eligible, candidates must be under the age of 40, currently in a position or operating a business in San Marcos, can be shown to have made an impact at their company as well as the potential to be a leader in business, politics and/or the community during the next decade and work for a member of the San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce or be a current member of the Young Professionals.
