3 jailed in drug-related robbery

Three men have been arrested for the armed robbery that occurred at the Bobcat Village apartment complex in February.

Demetrius Jones, Lynden Jones and Mohan Hegde were charged with aggravated robbery, a first-degree felony, according to social media posts by the Texas State University Police Department. UPD posted online on Thursday that the three men had been apprehended, with assistance from the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office.

“The three individuals who were arrested … are not Texas State students. They are from the Austin area,” UPD posted.

UPD also stated that a fourth suspect is still being sought.

Demetrius Jones, 18, and Lynden Jones, 17, were booked into the Williamson County Jail on aggravated assault charges on March 7, with bond set at $40,000 apiece. The two were then released on March 13 to the Hays County Jail, where there bond was set at $5,000. The two remained in the Hays County Jail as of Friday morning. Hegde, 18, was booked into the Hays County Jail on March 11 with a $15,000 bond. He was released on bond the same day.

In the probable cause affidavit for the arrests issued by Justice of the Peace Maggie Moreno, UPD Officer T.L. Palmer wrote that the victim in the armed robbery had contacted UPD on Feb. 20, the date of the incident, and initially said he had been robbed at gunpoint for money he had on him. He later said that he had attempted to sell Jones, Jones and Hegde commercially prepackaged vape pen cartridges containing THC oil, the affidavit said. The victim got in the car with the three subjects and the fourth unidentified suspect to hand over the cartridges and asked Demetrius Jones if he intended to pay him; Jones produced a silver gun (initially described as a semiautomatic handgun but later identified as a BB gun) and said he would not be paying him for the cartridges, according to the affidavit. Demetrius Jones then ordered the victim to get out of the car.

The victim reportedly identified Hegde and Demetrius Jones as acquaintances from Westwood High School in Austin.
