Blood center, Premium Outlets holding blood drive on Saturday

South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and San Marcos Premium Outlets are holding a blood drive Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in front of the Pottery Barn. All blood donors will receive a complimentary Premium Outlets tote, a “savings passport” and a Whataburger coupon.

Blood donations tend to decline over the summer, partially because regular donors may be on vacation and partially because high schools where blood drives are typically held in the fall are not in session.

Anyone wishing to donate blood must present identification. Donors under the age of 16 must have a signed parental consent form and weigh at least 120 pounds. Anyone over the age of 17 may donate if they are in general good health and weigh at least 110 pounds.

All donors are encouraged to eat well and adequately hydrate before and after donations. Refreshments and snacks will be provided do donors, who will also receive a free health check.
