• City Council, 3 p.m. Work Session followed by Executive Session, 6 p.m. Regular Session. Council Chambers, City Hall, 630 E. Hopkins. (Televised live on Time Warner Ch. 10 and Grande Ch. 16 or 123-16 and video streamed).
• Holiday Movie in Your Park, San Marcos Plaza Park. Holiday favorite “A Christmas Story” will begin at 6:15 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 5 – Saturday, Dec. 8

• Second Weekend: 32nd Annual Sights & Sounds of Christmas festival will be celebrated nightly from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at San Marcos Plaza Park on the San Marcos River. Ride the free shuttle (5 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.) from Strahan Coliseum Parking Lot.

Wednesday, Dec. 5

• Coalition on Mental Health Planning Meeting, 12 p.m., San Marcos Activity Center.

Thursday, Dec. 6

• Neighborhood Enhancement Office closed, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. for staff development and phone tree maintenance.
• Historic Preservation Commission, 5:45 p.m., City Council Chambers.

Saturday, Dec. 8

• Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., San Antonio Street on south side of the courthouse.
• Free Brush Drop Off for San Marcos residential garbage & recycling customers (please bring your utility bill). 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter at San Marcos Animal Shelter, 750 River Road, and follow the signs.
• Pancakes, Fire Trucks, and Santa, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., Fire Station #5, 100 Carlson Circle. $5 suggested donation for individuals or $15 per family, cash only.
