Jennifer Gonzalez

District names 3 new principals

San Marcos CISD

New principals will take the helms at Bonham Pre-K, Travis Elementary and SMCISD’s new Rodriguez Elementary after the district’s board of trustees approved their hires Monday night.

Jennifer Gonzalez was named as principal for Bonham for the 2018-2019 school year. According to the district, she has worked as a dual language kindergarten teacher, intervention teacher, bilingual summer school teacher for pre-k through second grade, and assistant principal.

“My whole career has been spent in pre-K and kindergarten,” Gonzalez told the board Monday night, “so I’m extremely excited to build a strong foundation for San Marcos CISD. So thank you.”

Gonzalez replaces Rosemary Garza as principal at Bonham.

Scott Masini

Scott Masini will serve as principal of Travis Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year. Masini comes to Texas from Minnesota and has 24 years of education experience, the district says. Masini replaces Niki Konecki, who served as principal at Travis for 10 years.

Masini was not present at the meeting Monday night but was at the last board meeting and sent a statement to the board.

“The fact that you are voting on me to be principal at Travis Elementary is a privilege that I do not take lightly,” the statement said in part.

The statement mentioned Masini’s childhood in Texas and his family ties to San Marcos and SMCISD and said that he considers it an honor to work for the district as it focuses on achievement for all students and partnerships within the community.

Kash Greathouse

Kash Greathouse, current assistant principal at Owen Goodnight Middle School, will become the principal of Rodriguez Elementary, which is scheduled to open at the start of the 2019-2020 school year. He has also served as an elementary teacher and summer school principal.

“I am truly honored to work with our youth, with everybody I’m currently working with, as well as serving the students of Rodriguez Elementary next year,” he told the board. “As always, it’s great to be a Rattler.”
