Gabor named Fulbright Scholar to Hungarian Academy of Sciences
Caitlin Gabor, a professor in the Department of Biology at Texas State University, has received a Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program grant for a research collaboration with the Hungarian Academy of Sciences in Budapest, Hungary.
Gabor is one of more than 1,200 U.S. citizens who will travel abroad for the 2018-2019 academic year through the Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State and the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board.
“We will conduct a four-pronged study using two species of frogs to both understand effects of land use conversion (urban/agriculture) on stress and to inform conservation decisions of amphibian populations in Hungary,” Gabor said. “I look forward to academic growth through this experience, to experiencing the culturally rich city of Budapest (and beyond), and to sharing these experiences when I return to Texas State University.”
The Fulbright Program is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S. government and is designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries. Recipients of Fulbright grants are selected on the basis of academic or professional achievement, as well as demonstrated leadership in their fields. The program operates in more than 160 countries worldwide.
