Honor Flight

World War II Veterans and brothers Sam and Lucky Knutson lead the procession of veterans with Honor Flight Austin as they are cheered and feted through the terminal while making their way to the gate for their flight to Washington, D.C. at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport Friday. World War II U.S Army Air Force veteran Richard Kepple clutches his boarding pass and the list of his fellow veterans in his group as he waits at the airport.

While a color guard and bagpiper leading the way, 40 veterans process through Austin-Bergstrom International Airport as they make their way to their gate for their flight to Washington D.C. to visit the memorials there. The event was organized through Honor Flight Austin, a non-profit organization that honors veterans by transporting them to war memorials erected in honor of their sacrifice with Southwestern Airlines.
