KZSM — Welcoming back friends

Sunday, April 14, 2019

As a volunteer organization, our members donate their time and efforts to produce the programing that our listeners have come to expect. However, at times, real life expectations require their energies to be invested toward meeting responsibilities rather than in their avocational pursuits. Fortunately, there are instances when we can welcome back our valued and talented individuals.

In the live program schedule, one may note that Mind Your Ear has returned on Wednesday afternoons. Shannon Van Dorn, who hosted a program when we began broadcasting, has been on hiatus. She has now returned to play chill tunes suitable for the workplace or the poolside that one would not necessarily hear on other mainstream programs.

Also returning to KZSM is Griffin Spell in his new program which will also air on Wednesdays directly following Mind Your Ear. Griffin’s Nest will cover remixes, remasters, covers, alternate takes and everything you might ever want to know about this music including the history behind these pieces. We are happy to welcome back these radio family members and are looking forward to many hours of music and information from them.

Community radio is all about friends, neighbors and co-workers sharing music, information, and those things that we are most passionate about. You too can become a member of your true community radio family. There is no age limit and previous experience is not a requisite for hosting a program. I love to remind people that most of our radio hosts have never done anything that would be considered even remotely similar to what they do now. Join us at Wake the Dead Coffee House on April 24 for our next volunteer staff meeting to find out more. Another option would be to talk to any of our radio hosts at the Farmer’s Market, in the Kissing Alley, or wherever we may be hosting an event. Our radio hosts will be happy to answer your questions or to gather your information to pass along.

MetalFest 2019 is coming up in June! Jack’s Roadhouse is the place, the 7th and 8th is the weekend! If heavy metal is your choice of music, then come and jump in the mosh pit and bang your head with us.

This week, in the Kissing Alley, April 18th, your true community radio station will host jazz music performers. Shannon Murphy and Peach Almanac will provide the music. Please join us!
