LBJ Ranch hosting holiday celebrations, German-style

Sunday, November 18, 2018

Lyndon B. Johnson State Park and Historic Site and the Sauer-Beckmann Living History Farm will host their Holiday Cookie Decorating and German Traditions event on Saturday, Nov. 24, from 10 a.m.- 3 p.m.

Among the day’s special activities, visitors can decorate cookies in the exhibit hall and hand-dip their own candles. Cedar wreath-making demonstrations will also take place at the farm throughout the day.

Fall foliage, roving deer, secluded picnic areas and bison provide a natural backdrop for a family outing.

Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic lunch, bring the family and camera, and start a new tradition or continue an old one together. Park staff recommends visitors come to the visitor complex first to get park daily event details, a map and free day park permit.

Amenities and activities at LBJ State Park and Historic Site offer engaging experiences for all ages, from young children to grandparents, making it a popular destination for those with family and friends visiting over the Thanksgiving holiday.

Park staff recommends that visitors come to the visitor complex before entering the park. The Visitor Center and park facilities are open 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
