Music, mermaids and more at Third Thursday

Thursday, September 6, 2018

San Marcos-centric art, including more than a dozen interpretations of our  mermaids, live music by One Foot in the Floodplain, a pop-up art market and complimentary refreshments will engage and entertain visitors to Third Thursday activities on Sept. 20 at the Price Center. As always, the Center’s monthly activities will run from 6-9 p.m., are free, and open to all.

“This month’s mer-centric activities are a wonderful, free way to start your celebration of the various Mermaid Society SMTX’s events happening throughout the weekend,” said Clay DeStefano, executive director. “In a sense, its’ a great way to get your feet wet if you’re new to celebrating our mermaid culture,” he added.

One Foot in the Floodplain will perform on the Ron & Marie Jager Theatre stage in the 1910 Room beginning at 6 p.m.  A come-and-go Artists’ Reception for the two current art shows -- San Marvelous and Animals in Abstraction -- will be held throughout the night, and a variety of local artists will be set-up throughout the Center for more ways to see and purchase art.

Additional activities planned throughout the downtown area for the night include several opportunities to see and purchase more art, hear and see other live music, enjoy live art demonstrations, and save on various featured products, foods and beverages. You can learn more about specific activities planned at each of these location by visiting downtownsanmarcos.org or on Facebook @smtxthirdthursday.

Guests to the Price Center can easily stroll to any number of the other participating sites downtown and take in live music, part of the new Mermaid March, and a few Murals along the way as well. Simply look for the Third Thursday Downtown Walkabout seal.
