San Marcos 24th Annual Juneteenth Celebration

Gary Job Corps Student Government Association lead the 24th Annual Juneteenth Parade from the Dunbar Center to Rio Vista Park. Since 2001, the Gary Job Corps Center staff and students have supported the efforts of the Juneteenth Foundation in ensuring the success of the parade, cook-off and other activities.  Over 20 cooks competed in youth pork chops, fajitas, beans, chicken, baby back ribs, spare ribs, cook’s choice, brisket, cobbler and margarita competitions.  Pictured are Constable David Peterson (event organizer), Constable Michael Torres, Monica Ybarra of Homewood Suites, cookoff participants and Gary Corrections/Security cadets who provided crowd and traffic control.
