Social media addressed in revised rules for employees

Hays County
Tuesday, December 18, 2018

Updated personnel policies for county employees will be up for approval this morning at the Hays County Commissioners Court meeting.

The commissioners will vote on a revised Hays County Employee Personnel Policy, including addendum policies on subjects including antifraud, whistle blowing, use of county equipment and vehicles, and a social media policy. The county agenda states that the personnel policy had not been thoroughly reviewed and updated in many years. The revisions the commissioners will vote on are the product of input from numerous elected officials, department heads and employees. The county’s general counsel also reviewed the policy changes and addendums.

In other business, the commissioners are set to vote on an interlocal cooperative agreement between Hays County and Walker County regarding jail transfers. The agreement would allow Hays County to transfer inmates to Walker County when the Hays County Jail is at capacity and Walker County has space. Hays would pay Walker County $39 per day per inmate.

Also on the agenda this morning is a resolution naming a section of U.S. Highway 290 after veteran John A. McCarty, who was born in Henly and went on to serve in World War II and survive the Bataan Death March. McCarty received two Purple Hearts and Two Bronze Stars for his service. The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post Number 2933 in Dripping Springs supports the dedication of a portion of the highway to honor McCarty.

The Hays County Commissioners Court will meet at 9 a.m. on the third floor of the Hays County Courthouse, 111 San Antonio St. Meetings are also streamed live
