Bring your ideas to us at KZSM

Sunday, July 8, 2018

To serve the needs of the community, your true community radio station is always trying new ideas on for size. Sometimes these experiments work out and sometimes they just don’t. Consequently, our program schedule is always changing. We encourage our listeners to submit ideas for programs or suggestions on how we may better serve our listening audience.

Currently, there are a handful of programs which are being developed which have evolved from suggestions which have been made to staff members. One of these is a program for preschoolers and their parents. More details on this will follow as they become available. Another program that we are looking forward to is “Mixed Bag” which hails the long-awaited return of veteran radio hosts Mark Diehl and Chris Rue. We also have a program on self-actualization which should be starting toward the end of this month.

There are still other programs which we would like to include on the schedule but have not found the appropriate host for. Among these are a program that presents music, news and information in Spanish, a classical music program, a dedicated country music program, an LGBTQIA+ call in program, and many others. If you have ever entertained the notion of becoming a “radio personality,” we can make that happen!

Bring your ideas and suggestions to our next volunteer staff meeting at Wake the Dead Coffee House on Wednesday, July 18. The meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. and is usually over by 9 p.m. Come and join your true community radio family!

We can also be found at the Farmer’s Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Stop by and say hello to our volunteer staff, pick up a printed program schedule to take home and put on your refrigerator so that you always know when your favorite program will be on the air.

Of course, you can also join us in the Kissing Alley this month on the 19th. Youngsville and the Revs will provide the musical entertainment. Our concerts are always family-friendly, free, and open to the public. Our Kissing Alley concerts are brought to you as part of the Third Thursday Walkabouts sponsored by the San Marcos Downtown Association.

Mark your calendars for Sept. 21, 22 and 23 for another Heavy Metal benefit concert at the Buzzmill. If you thought the last one was awesome, this one will be even bigger!

KZSM (just a little bit south of weird) now streaming world-wide on the internet.
