Centro holding second annual ‘Noche de Gala’ and celebration of facility’s eighth anniversary

This year’s Gala Centro will be honoring two community partners that have contributed substantially to its growth and success: the San Marcos Consolidated Independent School District (SMCISD) and Texas State University. From the generous facility support to programs, volunteers and expertise, these two institutions have helped to actualize Centro’s vision to “serve as a community beacon for the preservation, development, promotion and celebration of the Hispanic arts, culture, heritage and values.” In addition, a special tribute will honor the legacy of Centro’s late founder, Ofelia Vasquez-Philo, for her vision, drive and community leadership.

Entertainment will be provided by Texas State University’s Mariachi Nueva Generacion and the evening will end with socializing and dancing. A lucky winner will go home with a door prize of a weekend getaway to the Sycuan Golf Resort in San Diego, CA. Getaway includes two nights stay, dinner at the Sycuan Café & Grill and a round of golf for two, golf cart included.

The gala will be held at the San Marcos Conference Center - Embassy Suites, 1001 E. McCarty Lane on Saturday, Sept. 15. Festivities will begin at 6:30 p.m.
