City seeks volunteers for commissions, boards

The City of San Marcos continues to search for volunteers to serve on over 20 city boards and commissions.

The city is looking to fill the vacancies on the following boards and commissions: Airport Advisory Board, Animal Shelter Advisory Board, Arts Commission, Citizen Utility Advisory Board, Cemetery Commission, Construction Board of Appeals, Convention & Visitor Bureau, Economic Development Board, Ethics Commission, Historic Preservation Commission, Housing Authority, Human Services Advisory Board, Library Board, Main Street Advisory Board, Neighborhood Commission, Parks & Recreation Board, Planning & Zoning Commission, San Marcos Commission on Children and Youth, San Marcos Youth Commission and Senior Citizen Advisory Board. 

Those interested in volunteering may fill out an interest form and have them forwarded to the City Clerk’s office by Friday, Jan. 10 to be considered for appointment. Volunteer forms are available on the Boards & Commissions page of the city’s website at —  http://sanmarcostx.gov/DocumentCenter/View/15899/Board_Commission-Applic... — and may be submitted online, via fax or in person. Qualifications, duties and length of service vary for each commission and board. 

The city council is scheduled to review applications and make appointments during the Feb. 4 meeting. Volunteers appointed will take their seats on March 1.
