County Clerk's office receives state honor

Wednesday, January 1, 2020

The Hays County Clerk’s Office has received the Five Star Exemplary Award from the State Health Department’s Bureau of Vital Statistics.

This is the third consecutive year the clerk’s office has earned the honor. According to the state, “The 5 Star award acknowledges Vital Statistics Partners who understand the importance of vital statistics and its impact on the citizens of Texas. This award honors Partners who go above and beyond the duties of birth and death registration by attending trainings and keeping up with the latest legislation and trends.”

“I’m really proud of my team for achieving this honor,” County Clerk Dr. Elaine Cárdenas told the Commissioners Court. “It’s rare to gain Five Star designation. It means we have exceeded the State’s highest standards for accuracy, thoroughness, timeliness, efficiency and customer service.”
