Craft brewers meeting here this week
The Texas Craft Brewers Guild has chosen San Marcos to host their 2018 Education & Safety Summit, an annual conference focused on growing the quality, safety and education for Texas Craft Brewers.
Guild members will spend July 13-14 at thought-provoking and informative presentations and panel discussions on topics relevant to today’s brewers. Speakers cover a wide variety of topics including dry-hopping methods, working with the press, barrel aging procedures and promoting breweries as a tourism destination. This is the second year the Texas Craft Brewers Guild has held their Education & Safety Summit in San Marcos.
San Marcos is an emerging craft beer market with six breweries and brewpubs, with more being established soon. The first San Marcos production brewery, Altmeyer & Lewis Brewing Company, opened in October of 2016. The second production brewery calling San Marcos home is Hops & Grain, who will be opening their downtown San Marcos location this summer. With the opening of Hops & Grain, there are now four craft breweries within a three-block stretch in downtown San Marcos.
