Kyle woman faces murder, other charge in connection to death of infant in 2022

Tuesday, May 23, 2023

A Kyle woman was indicted in Hays County on two first degree felony charges in connection with the death of her infant, according to the Hays County Sheriff’s Office.

The case is filed in the 22nd District Court.

Hay County Sheriff’s Office officials said she was arrested on May 18.

Taylor Annette Bradley, 29, of Kyle, is charged with injury to a child with intentionally causing bodily injury and murder, according to documents on file with the county.

The indictment is in response to events that occurred on Sept. 15, 2022, police said.

At that time, officers with the Kyle Police Department were called to a residence in the 400 block of Timbleweed Drive. They were dispatched to that address to assist EMS who were responding to a premature birth.

Officers at the scene said that they found Bradley with an unresponsive infant.

Efforts at the scene to resuscitate the infant were unsuccessful, and Bradley, who at the time was identified as the mother of the unresponsive infant, and the child were transported by ambulance to Ascension Seton Hays, according to police.

The infant was pronounced deceased by Justice of the Peace-Pct. 2 Beth Smith at the hospital, police said.

The Kyle Police Department conducted an investigation in connection with the circumstances leading to the death of the infant and Bradley was arrested and charged with injury to a child.

Bradley was booked into the Hays County Jail on Sept. 15 and at that time had a surety bond of $3,000 and was released on Sept. 16. At this time, the case was forwarded to the Hays County District Attorney’s Office. In May 2022, the district attorney announced an indictment against Bradley for murder in connection to the death of the child. On June 2, 2022, the district attorney issued an arrest warrant for Bradley on the murder indictment. She was arraigned in July 2022 before Judicial Officer Bruce Boyer.

The police allege that Bradley delivered her child in a bathroom and then left the child without adequate care.

According to police, prosecution efforts were delayed then by the need to conduct an autopsy and to gather additional laboratory evidence to support the county’s claim of criminal activity by Bradley in connection to the birth and subsequent death of the infant.
