KZSM–Kissing Alley Returns for Rocktober

Sunday, October 15, 2023

KZSM—Kissing Alley Returns for Rocktober Our Kissing Alley Concert Series returns for fall this Thursday, Oct. 19, at 7 p.m. with three hard-rocking bands.

Like all concerts in the series, the event will be free of charge, open to the public, and family friendly. Historic, atmospheric Kissing Alley runs off Hopkins Street, just opposite the courthouse. This year’s series is supported by an Arts and Culture grant from the San Marcos Arts Commission.

Veteran DJ Metal Mark Moniz, “The Godson of Heavy Metal,” has put together the program for “Rocktober” through his extensive knowledge of the local hard rock scene. The evening will begin with War on Sunday, an indie pop punk rock band from San Antonio. They describe themselves as “two cousins and a friend, on this journey called life where music is our therapy.” This all-woman group debuted their single “Cheesecake Blues” on Mark’s show. “We love to perform and hang out with our friends and that tends to happen at our performances so that is always fun.”

Misguided Intentions, the second band playing at this week’s Kissing Alley concert, is a post hardcore band from San Marcos.

As Mark describes them, “this hard rock female fronted band brings you into the new genre of metal and rock.”

The third band, Ledezma Lethal Legends, has been a fixture in the San Antonio hard rock scene since the 1970s. This very dynamic rock ‘n’ roll group features Ted Soret on lead guitar, John Paco on drums, and Emilio Ledezma, bass and vocals.

They specialize in classic rock and metal and have appeared live on Mark’s “Metal on the Sidewalk” specials. Ledezma Lethal Legends is also a booking agency and a rental service for sound equipment.

Rocktober will be followed by Kissing Alley concerts on the third Thursdays of November and December. Check out this column, KZSM. org, or our Facebook page to learn about them.

KZSM launched our Kissing Alley concert series back in 2017 with the support of Downtown SMTX. Since then, we’ve featured every type of music–rock, gospel, heavy metal, country, and more.

Our Kissing Alley concerts, like our 24/7 programming, reflect the diversity and creativity of our community. Starting Nov. 1, we will be extending our mission to engage, enlighten, and entertain beyond our live stream at KZSM.org to the FM dial at 104.1.
