KZSM – Diverse Entertainment

Sunday, May 19, 2019

“What kind of music do you like to listen to?” We wish we could say that we have it all, but we really don’t. Our program schedule encompasses a variety of entertainment, information, and music genres, but we still need additional programming to fill our broadcast week and to meet the needs and desires of our listeners. This is what community radio is all about. It is an opportunity to have your voice heard or for you to share something you are passionate about.

Areas that have been unfilled are programs in Spanish, Children’s programs, Teen programs, Blues, Jazz, Bluegrass, Reggae, and Country shows, just to name a few. This is your true community radio station. If you have an idea for a program like another one currently on our schedule, that is not an issue for us as we believe that everyone will bring their own flavor to what you choose to do. Bring your ideas to our next volunteer staff meeting which will be held at 7:30 p.m. on May 22nd at Wake the Dead Coffee House.

Metal Mark, the God-son of Heavy Metal, is doing it again with the 2019 Metal Fest which will be held at Jack’s Roadhouse on June 7 and 8. Come and eat, drink, and bang your head with us! Jack’s will be donating a portion of the food and drink sales to KZSM! We’ll see you in the mosh pit…!

In the Kissing Alley on the 16th, join us for our concert series. This will be the last Thursday as “Third Thursday” becomes “Second Saturday.” Lina Clarke and Thunderosa will be our featured performers. Our concerts are always free, family-friendly, and open to the public.

Indigenous Freedom Radio will begin broadcasting a live show on Thursdays in addition to their regular Saturday broadcast. This new program will launch on May 23rd at 1 PM. One of the two hours of this new program will be broadcast in Spanish. Please tune in and let “El Tio” know how he’s doing.

Thanks to Pearce O’Neal and Dalton Marshall, students at Texas State, who recently produced a short film as a class assignment which they decided to title “True Community Radio.” The film may be viewed on social media.

KZSM would like to wish all Texas State graduates a hearty congratulations and best wishes as you go on to accomplish whatever you set out to do! A special best wishes to our own Marisa Diaz of Indigenous Freedom Radio! Congratulations to all!

KZSM (Just a little bit south of weird!) now streaming world-wide on the internet at KZSM.org!
