KZSM.org continues to respond to the current COVID-19 emergency by broadcasting a live emergency news special every weekday at noon. Our indepth conversations with San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson and Hays County Judge Ruben Becerra about the city and county’s response to the emergency include details about the city and county’s efforts to keep citizens safe and to adjust for the budget shortfalls resulting from the pandemic.
To create a complete picture of the pandemic as it affects us, we interview medical personnel, business owners, and members of our KZSM family in other parts of the country. And we provide local, national, and international statistics.

Through the full range of our programming, we strive to keep San Marcans and San Martians engaged and entertained as well as informed. Our live and prerecorded shows cover books, sports, and opinion, as well as all kinds of music, and we continue to add new programming to expand our offerings.
New this spring is MerMama Tings, all about parenting and families. Hosted by Attika Bastian, the show airs at 5 a.m. Sunday mornings and repeats at 2 p.m. Mondays for non-morning listeners. The show provides a weekly event calendar for parents and children that is specific to central Texas, from Buda to New Braunfels. The early hour gives parents information about mostly free activities available early enough for them to plan their week with their kids.
Talking about her show, Bastian says, “I love that anytime you want to plan your week on Sunday or Monday, you can just pop over and grab some great ideas to keep your schedule exciting for yourself and your children. We have ideas about what age kids should be helping in different areas of the home. A new segment called “Crownies” discusses the complexities of adult relationships in the context of parenting.
