KZSM — Kissing Alley Concerts return July 15

KZSM.org, the City of San Marcos, and Apogee Presents proudly announce the first concert of our Kissing Alley Summer Series, Thursday, July 15, 6-9 p.m., featuring Blevins. This free, family-friendly event will feature vendors as well as music. This first of three summer concerts brings back the Kissing Alley Concerts that KZSM inaugurated in 2017 and continued until gatherings were suspended because of the pandemic. The second Summer Series concert, August 19, will showcase The Johnathans; the third concert will be September 16, performers to be announced.

Blevins is a local San Marcos band composed of brothers Brandon, Kevynn, and Dillon Blevins. According to their website, “growing up together as brothers in rural Texas, the band has had space and time to develop a tight cosmically connected sibling groove that is constantly evolving with little to no regard for genre. Through infectious improv grooves, warbling synths, and psychedelic textures, Blevins creates an environment onstage and in the studio that brings people together on the basis of humanity and truth.” The brothers do their own production and have already released three singles from their upcoming LP, “New Now.” Blevins are the perfect opening act for the Kissing Alley Concert Series, which is all about bringing people together.

The Kissing Alley runs off Hopkins Street, just opposite the Courthouse Square. Enclosed by brick walls, decorated with colorful, quirky art, and festooned with colored lights overhead, the Alley makes a magical space for evening fun. Local legend says that the name recalls newly married couples who emerged from the Courthouse to kiss in its shadows.

Since its inception, the Kissing Alley concert series has hosted an impressive variety of local groups, including Ace Pepper and the Homebodies, Tracy Weinberg and Gretchen McMahon, Brother Roscoe, Nate Guthrie, and The San Marcos High School Mariachi Band Nuevo Cascabel. The diverse mix of entertainment at our Kissing Alley Concerts reflects the range of talent and creativity that abounds in our city and region.

KZSM.org is proud to partner with the Main Street Program of the City of San Marcos and the innovative event management company Apogee presents, organizers of SM Fest, to offer our community an opportunity for safe outdoor summer fun. The Kissing Alley Concert series is dedicated to working with local musicians, and our future showcases will include musical acts ranging from country, rock, hip-hop and much more!
