KZSM — For Summertime fun

Sunday, June 23, 2019

As a volunteer organization consisting of folks with jobs, families with kids, and retired individuals, summertime often means that our program schedule may contain more encore presentations than usual. However, it also provides opportunities for students with an interest in broadcasting to explore and learn with us. Your true community radio station is available for students of all levels to work with our radio hosts to learn about principles of broadcasting, become familiar with available software for editing, and learning how to produce their own radio program. Some might even record public service announcements or spend some time in front of a microphone. Of course, our goal is to recruit individuals to produce and perform their own radio programs. These opportunities are available to anyone with an interest in radio broadcasting, not only to students. Besides student internships, we may also provide a venue for completing community service requirements.

Our monthly volunteer staff meeting will be held this week on June 26 at Wake the Dead Coffee House at 7:30 p.m. If you’ve ever had a notion of sharing your passion with the world, this is the opportunity that you have been waiting for! Bring your ideas and suggestions! Let us know how we may better serve our community. This is your true community radio station! Come and be a part of it!. We would like to thank Jack’s Roadhouse and Metal Mark, the godson of heavy metal, for recently hosting another MetalFest. We would also like to thank all the fans of the Metal Mark Live show, the musicians and their supporters for making this event such a success. Jack’s was generous to donate a portion of the food and drink sales during the event to support KZSM Community Radio.

If you have an event that you would like to have promoted, public service announcements, or other information that would benefit the community, let us know. Promoting community events and producing public service announcements are also part of what we do. You may submit a written copy of what you would like to have read, or you may submit a recorded copy of the PSA for us to review and put on the air. Community service announcements will fall into the same category. Please contact one of your community radio hosts for details.
