KZSM welcomes back Steve Jones
Some time ago, we had a program that informed our listeners about what bands and performers were going to be playing in which venues during the week. The program only aired once a week with encores played only when the radio host could not make it in to do his show. Due to circumstances, the radio host Steve Jones had to take a brief sabbatical. We are happy to announce that not only has he returned to keep us updated as he once did, he has also accepted the position of program manager for KZSM.
Jones is an Air Force veteran who completed his degree in media broadcast. After spending a few years in Los Angeles working in television and as a sketch comedy writer, he realized he missed the connectedness and the slower pace of San Marcos. His return to the broadcast booth with the resurrection of “San Marcos This Week” will occur on Mondays at 6 p.m. beginning on May 6th following “Talk to Doc” – The Veteran’s program. Be sure to tune in to stay abreast of the goings on about town.
Due to inclement weather, our monthly volunteer staff meeting that was scheduled last week had to be postponed. If you would like to attend, meet your community radio family or share ideas on how we may serve you better, please follow us on our social media page for information about when our meeting will be rescheduled. We are hoping to meet sometime this week. More information will be posted as it becomes available.
May’s Kissing Alley concert promises to be exciting with the return of Thunderosa and Lina Clarke. If you missed these performers the last time they played in the Kissing Alley, then you now have an opportunity to see what you missed. Join us on the May 16 for this wonderfully melodious event!
KZSM will be represented at the Public Library’s Annual Spelling Bee on the May 23 at Aquabrew. Come and cheer on your favorite radio personalities as they compete against San Marcos’ best and brightest!
Of course, everyone is invited to jump in the mosh pit and bang your head as Metal Mark hosts Metalfest 2019 at Jack’s Roadhouse on June 7 and 8. Eat, drink and bang your head, Jack’s is donating a portion of the weekend’s proceeds to your true community radio station. We’ll see you in the mosh pit…
