Tuesday, September 24, 2019

On Tuesday, residents of San Marcos will be able to receive flood awareness training.

On Sept. 24 from 6-8 p.m. at Fire Station #5, 100 Carlson Circle, the City of San Marcos Office of Emergency Management and the National Weather Service will offer a training session for interested community members.

“We are entering the time of year where we may experience higher rainfall totals and potential for flooding,” said San Marcos Emergency Management Coordinator Rachel Ingle in a press release. “This training will help people to better prepare and protect their lives and their property during flooding events.”

According to a press release, the training will focus “on flooding and the science behind the record-breaking flood incidents in San Marcos and Hays County.” Attendees will receive guidance on flood preparedness and response, as well as local resources.

No pre-registration is required. For more details, visit the NWS's website.
