Public invited to tour ACC’s new facility

Austin Community College (ACC) will showcase its new emergency response training facility during the grand opening celebration of Hays Campus Phase 2.

The event will be 10 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Hays Campus (4675 S FM 1626, Kyle). The public is invited.

The new Public Safety Training Center provides state-of-the-art training facilities to ACC students, law enforcement officers, and other first responders. Features include:

  • 50-yard tactical indoor firing range with 12 double-wide lanes
  • 7,000 square-foot climate controlled force-onforce modular training room
  • Defensive tactics training room
  • 19-acre Emergency Vehicle Operator Course, known as EVOC
  • Outdoor areas for emergency medical training
  • Specially-outfitted tiered classrooms
  • The facilities will be available for ACC’s first responders programs including Criminal Justice and Emergency Management. Public agencies also are welcome to schedule trainings for individuals or groups.

The grand opening celebration will feature a short program, tours and facilities demonstrations. Guests also will celebrate with a ribbon-cutting and refreshments.
