Rotary awards scholarships to SMHS seniors
The Rotary Club of San Marcos awarded $35,000 in scholarships, ranging from $1,500 to $2,000, to 17 San Marcos High School seniors on April 24. Students at Travis Elementary School raised $850 for a scholarship for a SMHS senior who had earlier attended Travis, with Rotary matching their gift. Rotary scholarship recipients this year include:

Rotary scholarship committee chair, Dale Kelley, said the club focuses a lot of its energy and resources on programs that benefit young people. Being able to offer so many scholarships this year, he said, was gratifying for the club.
Rotary is a nonprofit, nonpolitiical, and nonreligious service organization. Over the years Rotary has awarded hundreds of scholarships to San Marcos area high school seniors.
