Rotary Club donates $5,000 to School Fuel
About a decade ago, individuals noticed that some local students were showing up to school on Monday having not eaten since they left school on Friday. A pilot program started to send food home over the weekend with students in need. Students in the program began improving across the board. Now School Fuel works in, or soon will work, in every school in SMCISD serving over 1,000 students. It costs about $215 per student to provide food for 36 weeks costing about $250,000 per year to run. The Rotary Club of San Marcos donated $5,000 at their weekly meeting.
