Tuesday, November 27, 2018

**UPDATE: Sandra Etheredge has been found safe at a business in Austin. The Austin Police Department is coordinating with the San Marcos Police Department to reunite her with her family.

With the assistance of automated license plate reader technology, police were able to focus their efforts in the Austin/Travis County area last night after multiple hits were received on Etheredge’s vehicle.

“Thanks to this and the observation of a citizen in Austin, our partners at the Austin Police Department have located Ms. Etheredge safe and sound,” Chief of Police Chase Stapp said. “We appreciate their assistance in returning her to her loved ones.”

San Marcos Police are searching for an elderly woman last seen this morning following her son as they drove near downtown.

Sandra Etheredge, 76, was last seen on Cheatham Street at the intersection with S. LBJ Drive at 10:15 a.m. Nov. 27.  She was following her son and got separated by a train. When the train cleared the crossing, her son was unable to find her.

Etheredge is diagnosed with dementia. She was last seen driving a silver 2003 Ford Escape four-door passenger car with Texas license plates AJ24199.

Anyone with information on her location should call the San Marcos Police Department at 512-753-2118.
