San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter Pets of the Week

Both pets are available for adoption at the San Marcos Regional Shelter. All ready-to-go pets, defined as cats and dogs that have already been spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, are $22 until further notice. This special price includes spay/neuter, vet exam, vaccinations and a microchip. To meet our pets, please visit us in person at the shelter, open from noon to 7 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, and from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturdays. Dog of the Week: Metapod

Metapod is a two-year-old, 54-pound Australian Cattle Dog/Greater Swiss Mountain Dog mix with a big personality. He enjoys herding people and animals, and we can’t blame him because he was born for the job. When playing with his canine friends, he tends to be more dominant, so he would prefer a submissive play pal who will do whatever Metapod says. Due to his deeply ingrained herding nature, he may do best in a home with no small children or pets that don’t appreciate being told what to do by their furry peers. If you have a ranch with animals that need some direction, Metapod might be the perfect guy for the job.

Cat of the Week: Orange

Orange is a 4-year-old unsocial orange Tabby who’s learning that humans aren’t that bad. He thinks it’s cool when humans give him treats, and some personal space when he asks. Since Orange has had little to no human interaction, he will require time, patience, and lots of love after being adopted. This sweet boy would thrive in a home with another cat, where he can learn how to be a friendly, trusting companion. Orange hasn’t had the easiest life before coming to the shelter, and it’s time he gets spoiled for the rest of his days.
