The De Zavala Diamonds received awards, took part in a lip sync battle and cheered loud and proud while competing for the school's Spirit Stick during their Diamond Day celebration on Friday, January 26. Diamond Day is De Zavala Elementary's nine-week celebration that allows students to receive awards in categories such as: citizenship, and attendance, and each special subject teacher also awards classes with individual certificates. Every nine weeks, new challenges are implemented as part of the assembly and classes partake in a chant off for the title of DZ spirit stick champion. Each SMCISD campus has a campus callback. For De Zavala Elementary you can say, 'Diamonds Shine Bright,' and immediately they will respond with, 'That's Right!'
