SMHCC Senior signs NLI

SMHCC TRACK & FIELD
Thursday, May 4, 2023

This past Wednesday, Lizzy Fritzler, a senior at Hill Country Christian School, committed to the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, Missouri, to be a member of their track and field team, throwing both shotput and discus. Lizzy will be studying pharmacology and plans to get her Doctor of Pharmacy degree.

Lizzy first began competing in track and field in the sixth grade. She loves the domination she has on the field that is due to her hard work and dedication. She has been extremely committed, waking up before 4:30 a.m. every morning to weight train, so that she can throw in the afternoon. She has dedicated so much of her life to this sport, and her hard work is paying off. Her trainer, Stephanie Crowder, has been training Lizzy in her free time for the past three years. Stephanie is just as committed as Lizzy is and deserves much credit for all that she has poured into Lizzy’s journey. This has been an outlet for her to attend a college that will allow her to follow her dreams, and plans she has for her life.

For discus, Lizzy’s current personal record is 124 feet, 11 inches and recently set a new personal record in shot put at the TAPPS 1A regional meet on Wednesday this week with a throw of 38 feet, 10.5 inches. She caught the attention of UHSP through Next College Student Athlete and by breaking the TAPPS 1A record with a discus throw of 122 feet, 2 inches. Lizzy heads into this year’s state meet ranked number one in both shot put and discus and has the goal to continue to improve her distances by continuing to work on her form and hopefully set another state record at the TAPPS meet in Waco next weekend.
