Texas State alumna Dannie McCallum returns from the Marvel Universe for a Q&A

Texas State Theatre will host an industry Q&A featuring alumna and “Echo” actor Dannie McCallum on Tuesday, March 19 at the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall.

McCallum recently starred as Tuklo in Marvel’s “Echo” on Disney+. The most recent addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, “Echo” is a five-part miniseries based on the character Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) from the series, “Hawkeye.” McCallum plays one of Lopez’s indigenous ancestors whose powers are ultimately passed to Maya.

Rio Grande Valley native McCallum graduated from Texas State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Theatre, concentrating in Performance and Production (P&P). McCallum recently reconnected with the department via social media.

McCallum wished to “say thank you to the wonderful people who made an impact on [her] and shaped [her] as an actor and to those who got [her] ready for this industry.”

Ultimately, McCallum connected with current department chair Sarah EC Maines and current head of P&P Yesenia Herrington, offering to make a pit stop in San Marcos while visiting her family in Texas.

McCallum will join current faculty, staff and students in the Performing Arts Center Recital Hall on March 19 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. for a Q&A moderated by Herrington. Admission is free, but event registration is required. All are welcome to submit questions. Questions will be pre-selected.
