'Yakona' is set to screen at Price Center today

In an encore screening today at the Price Center, 222 W. San Antonio St., the acclaimed film, 'Yakona: Water Rising,' will be presented with guest appearances by directors Anlo Sepulveda and Paul Collins.

Free pizza and beer from Pie Society and Middleton Brewing will be available at 6:30 p.m. and the film starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $5 at the door.

The film is a 'visual experience through the crystal clear waters of the San Marcos River and its headwaters at Spring Lake,' according to a press release.

The film takes viewers on an 'impressionistic journey from its point of view as it flows from source to sea,' reacting to the changing seasons, over time and memory.

To live in San Marcos is to have a one on one relationship with the San Marcos River and the film addresses the bounty of the natural world here but it also highlights how the interactions with those who reside here impacts the future of the river. The film is 85 minutes. In a review of the film, 'The Hollywood Reporter' noted that the filmmakers had crafted a visual narrative that is a 'rich blend of sound and image.'

Organizers recommend those wishing to attend arrive in time to park and take advantage of the social aspects of the evening.
