KZSM – A radio station of superstars

Sunday, September 23, 2018

There still seems to be some confusion as to how to listen to our programming. We are not broadcasting on the radio airwaves yet. Currently, we are still an internet livestream broadcast station. To listen to our programs, one needs to go to their computer, tablet, or other internet capable device and go to KZSM.org. We are still working on a obtaining that radio license and we will keep you informed on the progress of that effort!

We hear from our regular listeners and overwhelmingly, the opinions we hear are that people are amazed at the quality of our programs. What makes this even more amazing is that most of our radio hosts have little to no previous radio experience. For many, this has been a learning experience in broadcasting, all of which is being produced on donated equipment which tends to fail from time to time. Despite all of that, it is homegrown radio that’s worthy of listening to by people of all ages.

From musicians, students, teachers, instructors and tattoo artists, to retired individuals, our radio family represents a colorful cross-section of the folks who make up the citizenry of our unique city. Of course, we are always looking to weave additional, complementary individuals into the tapestry that is your true community radio family.

If you have an idea for a radio program or you would like to become a member of this broadcast experience, then, join us for our next volunteer staff meeting at Wake the Dead Coffee House on Oct. 17 at 7:30 p.m. You don’t have to become a radio host, we need volunteers who can do other things as well!

Our next Kissing Alley concert on the 18th of October will include a Halloween costume contest. A nominal fee will be required to enter one of three age categories. There will be prizes awarded, and we promise that they will be worth the effort of entering the contest. The musical line-up is still being developed and will be publicized soon.

If you’re out and about on a Saturday, stop by the Farmer’s Market. Besides a selection of fresh vegetables, local honey, kombucha and coldbrewed coffee, KZSM is also there to answer your questions and to distribute printed program schedules. Don’t be shy, stop by and say hello. One never knows which of our radio hosts will be there!

KZSM (just a little bit south of weird) now streaming world-wide on the internet at KZSM.org.
